My friend bought himself a sony 500 burner and now when we try to Rip/burn a plain copy of his movie "ripper-letters from hell" it takes like 4 hours just to rip it. We must have done someting realy wrong. I cant help him, maby you can. He is using dvd x copy 2,5 and his comp is in the signature down below here. Thanks in advance. Ron
Yep, your doing something wrong. Download the free DVD Decrypter or DVD Srhink from: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/downloads_dvd_ripping.htm Test with this. Chris
Thanks for the answer oki i tried those two programs and decrypter just gave me errormessages and the other was faster but took like an hour to just rip it anyway. We realy like to use the dvd x copy xpress and acording to their website this burner is ok. And the computer cant be to slow i hope. Have to search more but if you all know anything more i can try please write that. tnx Ron
Make sure your DVD drive is set for "DMA" mode this has an effect on speed. One thing you don't mention is you PC spec, this can have a serious effect on the rip speed. (Also the operating system) HomerJ
Go with what Tosca suggested - I had this problem initially because I was using my burner to rip the dvd's...... Could not get rip speeds over 2x.... Purchased a seperate dvdrom drive - now I rip at avge of 6-8x.... Also worth checking what HomerJ suggested - the DMA can have a direct effect on information transfer speeds.....
Im getting 6-8x on a Pioneer DVR105 with 1.33 firmware now and its great. I hated the old 2x ripping. Anyway, there seems to be a real problem here. Your ripping speed - if it takes an hour, is around 1x. Thats very very slow. Chris
oki i took my pioneer 16x (i think it is that anyway) and used that to make the image and now it takes about 7-9 min to make the image and then ill burn in 4x. Thanks for the replys. See you campers
