Earlier I was watching .avi files just fine, except it would have a send error to microsoft thing every few tiems i try to boot it. So I tried installing new codecs, but that just made the problem worse. I can't view any .avi files in windows media player or the divx player. this is really starting to bug me I followed the instructions of the sticky topic, but still doesn't work. This is confusing me very much. FIXED IT. Had to upgrade DIRECT X. I used g-spot, this is what I got.
1. Im pleased to see that im not the only one running a non-teddy-bear GUI 2. DirectX shouldnt really have anything to do with it but it never hurts to update 3. Seems like you need a FDDSHOW filter. You can grab one at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608
