Hello everyone, just installed my AVerMedia PCI capture card. Must say it works great for the price I paid. My only problem is that the created MPEG-2 files are not displayed correctly in Windows Media Player. It takes the whole height of the screeen but not the width, which makes everything way too narrow. I opened the same MPEG-2 file with WinDVD and it plays fine. Tried searching, hoping it would be a know issue, but didn't find answers to my question. Could anyone provide some help ? Thanks a lot ! Alex
Are you perhaps capturing at half D1 (352x480), or SVCD (480x480)? WinDVD can understand these types of files, and display them properly, WMP cannot.
Mpeg-2 Files have an aspect Ratio Flag in it"s header which Software Players Like WinDVD can read and it uses this Flag to properly display the Video but Media Player can not read aspect ratio Flags so it uses the Resolution to Display the Files and not the aspect ratio so it will not Display Mpeg files Correctly that is unless they have a 1:1 Aspect ratio.... If you make a DVD From these Files they will Play Correctly in your DVD Player..... Cheers
