DO i capture it at vhs quality which is 352x240 29.57 fps 741 kbps. i can increase the 741 kbps...but what will that do???? also if i capture it at dvd quality 720x480 3034 kbps......which do i do?...the tape is 3 hrs long approx....the vhs quality will fit on a dvd and the dvd wont right? ia m confused....will the quality get better through dvd or vhs? If i capture it at vhs quality and increase the kbps will it be more smoother...it seems that when i capture it in vhs quality it seems to skip a bit and look blocky how can i fix that problem? .....thanx sorry if this is so much...i need help?
Im no expert, but i am using an external capture device on my laptop, and discovered my capture device can only capture at the 300-240ish size (what you describe as VHS).The quality is poorer than the original (slightly blockier). 300-240 is about a third of your monitor size, so when played full screen it has to enlarge the images (when the preview size is the best result), so it makes it pixelated. The higher the capture size, the bigger the clip can be played on your monitor without image loss (but uses more memory!) My hardware limit on my capture device is the VHS setting size unfortunately, so i have to make do with poorer quality. (sob!) hope i am right about this and that this helps...
