Hi there, I, unfortunately, am as basic as one can get when it comes to my VHS/DVD Player, so please be patient with me . I just purchased a used Panasonic VHS/DVD dual player/recorder/dubbing unit. I bought it for the purpose of converting my hundreds of vhs movies to dvd. However, every movie I've tried to dub to dvd, the unit tells me I cannot dub due to a federal violation & copyright laws, blah blah blah.... I KNOW there has to be a way around this issue and I'm REALLY hoping one of you can help me & walk me through it. Please don't tell me I just wasted money on nothing! Thanks Bunches in advance!
It is ilegal for manufacturers to sell units that allow straight copying like you are trying to do. You are encountering Macrovision copy protection on the tapes. As far as I know there is no work around for this on a combination unit such as your Panasonic.
