I am in the process of taking old VHS video recorded by family and making it digital so that I can later create a DVD. Most of the video is between 15 and 23 years old. I started with the oldest (screen shot below) and I would like suggestions on what filters to use in Virtualdub. I have already used "Neat Video" to reduce as much noise as possible. Main Problems - Video blurs a lot as the camera moves - Colors are washed out - Need advice on what order to run filters - Should I de-intelace? Capture Method and Problems - I used xvid at 1846 Kbps, other formats suggested like mjpeg were very jittery. - I am trying to capture about 2 hours of VHS at a time, so a new codec suggestion should be based on this. - My capture device forces video to 720x480 only Sample Image
For this type of help, I suggest: http://forum.videohelp.com/ http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?s=946ce8aa4338b9ffe4a53e5a9775dac5 The VirtualDub Forum takes a couple of days to register you, but the Creator of VirtualDub hangs out there. Both may ask for a small sample (a file share site would be best).
