    hi folks..
i'm new here & this is my first post, so let's hope it's in the right place!
the problem is, i have an old samsung vhs player which works fine & plays pal and ntsc tapes. i've just got a tape that was recorded in japan 20 years ago, and i'm trying to record it onto my phillips standalone dvd recorder..
the problem is it won't record.. comes up with the message ,system does not match'
this is using scart, i also tried going into the phonos on the front but same message.
is there a way around this? the tape itself plays fine.

    thanks folks!!

    brushuk.

Does the Philips normally accept NTSC (Japanese standard)video?

    hi,
first of all thanks for the reply,
all of my other old vhs tapes are uk ones or stuff recorded off the telly, so this is the only time i've tried it with a japanese tape.
it plays fine on my vcr.
    cheers.
