I am a complete newbie to video. I want to capture some VHS tapes of my children and place them on DVD. I have a DVD -R burner. I would be using EZ CD Creator DVD Builder. I have a VHS machine. Can someone walk me through a scenario of getting the VHS onto my DVD? Does this burn directly or through my hard drive? How do I set up the VHS recorder? Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Hi dab1477, You will need a video capture device of some sort. Either a Video card that will accept the RCA type output of your VHS player, or they also sell a stand alone box type that connects to your PC through the USB ports. As far as the complete process, go to the guide tab and check out the AVI to DVD-R guide. That will give you the steps to follow after you get the equipment. Jerry
Here's a doozy to read, http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/54508 The search function is a good thing! "VHS to DVD" would've turned up mucho info
You can use use the Xpert DVD Maker by V-STREAM (about US$50.00)It requires a P4 1.6GHZ with USB2.0 connects to either composite or S-video of your VCR. Has a build-in harware MPEG 4, 2, &1 encoder. Also inludes software to convert and burn the Mpeg files to a DVD using Nero 6. Did a decent job of converting 15hrs worth of old home movie VHS tapes for me. Magoo37
