I am a bit new to all this, checked the FAQ's but no deal. Here's the prob. I have a lot of old VHS films I want to edit and put onto DVD. I use Pinnacle v8 - its ok, but some of the films are too long. Is there a way to put onto hard drive, edit, then burn to DVD - or am I going about this all wrong.

    Thanx

Length is no problem, you can always split the movie files. But what kind of files do you have after transferring to pc (e.g. avi, mpeg)?

In that case, you can convert the mpegs to dvd compliant format with e.g. VSO DivxToDVD (free version), then burn with e.g. Nero:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm

If the resulting files are over the normal capacity of a dvd, Nero Recode would automatically compress to fit.

If you want to split the mpegs before encoding, try e.g. Power Video Converter or X Video Converter.

    Good luck!
