VHS to DVD

    ok guys so i got this wicked almost PVR like thing from the video store up the road from me, its a panasonic not sure what, but in any case its a DVD recorder and also has a built in 80 GB HDD for tv recording, my thought was to back up my VHS tapes with it, i ran my VCR To the input on the panasonic and told it to record as i was playing the VHS but it says cannot back up copyrighted material? is there any way i can by pass this i really dont like using my origanal VHS's and wnat to have them on DVD.

    You are running up against Macrovision copy protection, you need a device called a Video Stabilizer which defeats it. The stabilizer has a video IN and video OUT jacks just connect it in between your VCR and your recorder and you should be all set to do what you want to do. They Usually require a 9volt battery too. A stabilizer should be about $30 and they are available at most electronics stores.
