    hi.
i am after some help getting some vhs tapes onto my pc so i can burn them to dvd. i have seen a few threads on here that say you can use the camcorder as a 'through'. i was wondering what kind of leads or cables i am going to need.
for the camcorder to the pc i am using a firewire cable, which works fine. how do i get the video into the camcorder? so i can record onto the pc?

the camcorder i have is a canon mv630i, i dont know if this is able to do the job or not.

    any help would be great.
    thanks.

If the cam has any inputs, find out what they are. Generally composite (RCA) type.
Plug the VCR's RCA outputs (Red, White, and Yellow) into the cam's inputs, and capture via firewire as normal.
If the cam doesn't have the 3 inputs, but only 1 or two, the one (Yellow) will be video, and audio you will have to do directly from the VCR to your computer's sound card Line In port.
