Hey folks - got a question for ya'.

Recently installed a RADEON 7000 SERIES.

While attempting to connect a second monitor I came upon a problem. The onboard display adapter on my Abit VA-10 was nowhere to be found on the Device Manager. I ran an "Add Hardware" wizard and installed the adapter (VIA KM400) manually. Now I'm getting a "Code 10" error. I've attempted to update the drivers and receive a message stating that "no newer drivers are available". I'm mildly frustrated at this point. I've done everything a newbie can do. Would greatly enjoy running dual monitors.

    Any ideas?

    hi,
Does your bios support disabling your onboard graphics? If so, dive in there and make sure it's turned on.

Thats my best guess at the minute.

if correct, what you are trying to do you can't. when you installed the radeon card it disabled the onboard video so uninstall the onboard video driver you manually installed. if wanting to use 2 monitors than try a pci card plus the radeon or get a video card capable of running 2 monitors.

I was actually starting to lean towards that hypothesis myself. Still gonna' check out the BIOS options and see if there's anything in there. Thanks a lot for the info. :)

p.s., ...anybody out there attend, or graduate from Devry? I know it's off the subject so PM me if you have any comments or feedback about it.

Good gravy! That sucks on so many levels...I'm not sure where to begin.

I'm happy to report I just purchased, and installed, an ATI VisionTek 64MB Dual Monitor Graphics Card. However, all that was REALLY necessary to run dual monitors with the Radeon 7000 (which is what powers the VisionTek) is a small flat panel to CRT adapter. :) We live, we learn. The VisionTek is a PCI card so I'm gonna' keep both. I just bought the R7K a few days ago and thought about taking it back...but...I've got three 17" CRT's layin' around anyway...maybe I'll run across a fourth and can pretend I'm on the deck of a galactic battle cruiser (LMAO).

    Anyway, thanks again...
