Yo. I'm trying to capture video game footage with a kworld DVD maker to put on to a DVD disk. Is it better to capture the footage at a high resolution so when its resized to a lower resolution the quality will be better? Am I right or will the quality be worse? I was thinking of capturing the footage at 720x480 & it will resize to 640x480. I'm using a Mpeg 2 format. P.S what's the best resolution for quality keeping when capturing video game footage via composite cable? Regards Sheldon A.K.A OArcadiaO
Capture at 720*480 - this is the DVD standard. If game outputs an even higher resolution, say 720p, then that may be worth a try as a comparison (720p re-encoded to DVD res) .
One more thing. I captured the footage and now Im trying to deinterlace it. Can this be done using CyberLink Power Director 7? Regards OArcadiaO
I've got no idea as to the capability of Power Director - I don't have it. For normal purposes when making a DVD, the interlacing should be retained. Are you sure you want to deinterlace? What is the resolution of your source? Did you capture at 720*480 ?
I captured video games footage off my xbox using a composite cable at 720x480 so it's definatly got interlace issues. Reason I'd like to deinterlace is because I want to put a bit of footage on YouTube also so I'm not worried about the DVD part.
That makes sense. Use could process it easily in Avidemux. Perhaps set your output @ 640*480, mpeg-4 (AVC), and use the Yadif de-interlacer. Good - V.Good quality, fast processing.
Whts it like for size? I tried virtual dub and it came out at 6 gig lol. P.S how would i use Yadif? Wud I put it in the plugins folder or something like that? Got any links so I can download em please. Regards OArcadiaO
Download Avidemux from videohelp.com tools section. In this program, the filters are all built in. It's a great program once you get used to it. Here's something to get you going. Open your MPG. Use the up and down key to jump to the i frames (start of edit) and drag the slider to the end point (any frame) On the left set video to mpeg-4 (avc), Audio to MP3 (lame), format to MKV. CLick on video / filters. Click on Interlacing, double click yadif to insert it. (accept the defaults). Click on Transform (left) double cick on mplayer resize. Deselect "lock aspect ratio" and set the size to 640*480. OK out/ save. Save to a new file (eg. my_file.mkv)
Thanks dude. One more and I'll leave ya alone lol. If you were recording game footage from ya console and wanted to put it on YouTube. What format would you use and what resolution as well. I'm trying to get as much quality as possible so it looks gud on the site. I'm using a MP4 AVC and using 720x480 resolution.
You need to speak to somebody who has done it regularly and has figured out what works best. perhaps repost your question in a gaming forum.
