i'm having a tough time trying to capture video from my sony dcrpc330 using nero vision express 3. when i'm in the screen capture screen in nero, i select the dvd format. i noticed that after the video is captured, the resolution is not all that great and the video doesn't play smoothly... while the video is playing, some times it pauses for a second or half a second before it moves on. i need some help in trying to figure out what the settings need to be in nero. any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
Well it could be because your PC isn"t fast enough to Capture Full Resolution Mpeg-2 in Real Time...You Probably shouldn"t use Nero to Capture anyways because it is well Known for useing one of the Worst quality Mpeg encoders ever Created..... Maybe Try useing a DV Capture Program Like "WinDV" or "DVIO" (Both Freeware) to Capture the Video from your Camcorder in DV AVI format and then Import the DV AVI file into Nero and then Let it encode the File to Mpeg-2/DVD For you, This way you will get Smoother Playback in the File but I don"t know if the Quality will be any Better... If you want better Quality I suggest you encode the Captured DV AVI File to Mpeg-2 useing a Good Quality Standalone Mpeg encoder Like Tmpgenc and then Import the Mpeg-2 file into Nero and add your Menu"s and Chapters and Burn to DVD..... Cheers
Thanks for replying back to my post Minion. I only have usb2.0 available on my machine. I don't have a firewire port. Will the usb2.0 ports work with windv or dvio? if not, do you have any suggestions for any other software that will work? I really appreciate your response!
No I do not think you can capture from USB with these Programs... I actually don"t think you can even Transfer the Video in it"s Native DV AVI Format through a USB.... You can Install a Firewire Card in your PC which would Solve your problem and you can get them for very Cheap...I got one a while Back on E-Bay for $2.50 , I actually still have it but don"t need it because I have Firewire on my Motherboard..If you want the One I have you can Have it For really Cheap but you have to Pay for the Shipping.... If you are interested PM me and we can work out the details... Cheers
Minion, i'm using a laptop to capture my video. i'm assuming that the firewire card that you have is for a desktop. i guess i'll have to shop around for a pcmcia card. thanks for the info
Hi, Yes the Card I have is a PCI Card for a Desktop PC...You might be able to find a PCMCIA Firewire card ...... Desktop PC"s are Better for this Type of Stuff because LapTops have a Hard Time Captureing DV AVI Because the Format uses up a Lot of Disk Space and needs a Very fast Hard Drive to Capture without dropping Frames (Which is what causes the Un-Smooth Playback) and LapTop Hard Drives are generally Slower than Hard Drives for a PC.... Right now you can get a New Desktop PC with a Athlon XP 3000+ Processor and 512mb DDR400 Ram for Under $300 US (An Unbelievable Price!!!) If you go here you get the Caseand 400w PSU with the Motherboard and the 512mb of Ram and the Athlon XP 3000+ CPU with the Heatsink/Fan and Mouse and Keyboard for only $179 US... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1487649&Sku=C460-1022 Q All you need to add is a Hard Drive and a DVD Burner which you can get For really Cheap here: Maxtor 160gb Hard Drive for $49 US: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1422521 Samsung 16X Dual Layered DVD Burner for $44 US: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1502298&Sku=S203-2240 So for under $300 US you can get yourself a Fast System that would be a Lot Better for Video capture and editing than your Laptop is and for this Price it is very Hard to beat..... Cheers
