If you have a trial version, it may limit time and length of capture. There have been MANY patches for Dazzle & Pinnacle. I have an old Dazzle capture device in my closet where it belongs! I capture from DVDXpress 2 external box to the Hard Drive as full resolution DVD format (mpeg2) and recode to whatever in Nero. Direct to disc in most apps can be problematic and seem to me not as good quality. Capture to hard drive then process as you wish to avoid wasted DVD's. I use RCA connections even tho S-Video is available. My PC speed is only 1.6 GHz and does nicely as a recorder to HD. You do not want to be doing any other high resource actions while capturing! I suggest an external box to capture. Costs more, but MUCH better than software. ULead is included in DVD Xpress boxes and performs a variety of editing functions well. The Cap Wizard allows capturing to many formats such as iPod, Divx, etc. also.

A little off the subject maybe someone can give me the right link. A compaq computer made in 2005 with nero 6 ultra all the upgrades and dazzle 100. Cant get the dazzle 100 to work with neros video capture. My webcam works with the nero and dazzle works ok with the supplied pinnacle software. I cant configure the dazzle in nero. It configures the audio but wont run the test. I get a window that says nero has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Most capture apps & hardware require their proprietary software. Use Nero to recode after using Dazzle & Pinnacle to write to hard drive.
By the way, I use Nero 6 and would NEVER upgrade to 7 or subsequent versions...too many problems for me!
ps...NEVER install Nero INCD! Trashes many users!

Thanks. To clarify, when I went to Nero to capture. A window comes up and says it needs to configure the device(Thats normal it did that when I tried my webcam which worked ok) thats when I had the error. I could tell it to configure audio. But when i tried to run the test I got the failure couldn't go any furthur. It locked up nero had to (ctl/alt/del)to close nero. I tried the dazzle with Win Movie Maker it was ok. As far as INCD works great for me. There are other cd rw/dvdrw formatting programs, If ICD doesnt work for you

My opinion, Nero, like most Suites for any type application, have bloated themselves with new ''features'' that are used to get upgrade $$ from users. Too many single function apps that work very well to waste my time and space with bloatware. I use CDex for my CD ripping needs. It doesn't junk-up my PC with error prone operations. And! It never needs a patch like Nero. Nero is the best for video encoding. I prefer to let it remain in that capacity.
btw, I NEVER use manufacturer's bundled software to work with any media! I have a SONY VAIO and haven't used their apps since I first attempted and ran into DRM restrictions!
But...all configurations are different...use what works for you.. ;- )
