What is the most powerful video card I can get under $200. Preferably around 150 dollars.

ATI or nVidia I really do not care.I play alot of videogames: Battlefield 2, Guild Wars, Halo, Counter Strike: Source, Doom 3, World of Warcraft, and Chaos Theory when I am bored.

    Thanks

I think you should get a nvidia 6600 GT, it's like 160ish. Get MSI or Chaintech.

I think it performs just as well as the 6800GT but costs a lot less. You won't even notice improvement of 4 fps.

I'm usually an ATI fan and I got the X700 pro, but I would also say get the 6600GT if you want a good card at a decent price. Thats the card I would have gotten if I didnt get the ATI one for $150

All I have to say is that you won't see much improvement in that series no matter what the specs.

So the verdict is the 6600 GT?

    Any other commenters?

Just look on Newegg and read the reviews if no one else is responding.

6600GT without a doubt, get the 256mb version if you can as this will help out in games that use a lot of resources i.e BF2, also go for Xfx,BFG or the Gigabyte heatpipe version ...

I think I am actually getting the 6800 look at the gamespot article - it clearly shows that even though the cheaper 6800's clock and memory speeds are substantially less than those of the 6600 GT, the 6800 and its rather newer architecture actually performs better in numerous tests.

BTW, do you guys think gettin 256 bit is essential?

    Thanks

If you get the 6800le it could be soft modded to nearly 6800Gt specs (GT's have ddr3 memory le have ddr1) which will be a vast improvement but then again it may not soft mod, the 6800 card s really come in to their own at resolutions above 1024x768.... so if you play @ 1280x1024 and above then go for the 6800, if you play at up to 1024x768 then the 6600GT is faster than then 6800le as you can get away with no AA or AF at high quality settings... just trying to help ;)

    Got ya, thanks.

Yeah I forgot to mention i play all my games on my LCD at 1280x1024.
So,I am definitely getting the 6800 now... Yeah I was planning on unlocking and overclocking.

You were alot of help dude, once again, thanks.

In that case you should also look at the X800, it can be easily overclocked to X800XT performance.
