I want to buy a new video card so i can play the newer games like Battlefield 2 and so on. I have been searching the net, for reviews and what not, so far i am thinking abou the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and the GeForce 6600GT, I am looking for a card up to $150. Are these good choices? would they be obsolete in a year or 2? any reccomendation about these cards or any other is welcome.
The 6600Gt is faster than the 9800pro and is more suited to newer game titles as well as older ones, have a read of this it should help you make your mind up http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2277&p=3
yes, i am leaning toward more the 6600gt as well, but another question is from which maker do get it from, i mean, MSI, XMX,CHAINTECH,PONY,etc. same chipset. are there any incompatibility issues with this card, would it need separate power source too.
You'll need 1 spare power connector for the back of the card, all the 6600GT's are pretty much the same the only difference's are clock speeds, cooling solutions and memory chips, XFX,BFG,MSI,Chaintech & EVGA are about the best out there and a dew more that i have forgot about, as far as i know there are no known incompatability issues just make sure you download/install the latset driver .... let us know what you go with
