video conversion

    Hi can someone PLEEZ tell me of an app that supports ALL video file types for conversion to dvd esp mp4, avi, divx

    Well mp4 is fairly easy since there are a limited number of supported streams that it can contain, however that doesn't take into account the possiblity of using privates streams to store non compliant stuff.

    avi can contain streams compressed any number of different codecs.

    divx is basically just avi, however if you treat it as such you would loose xsubs, chapters and menus. Can't really think of anything that supports converting xsubs, chapters, etc. from DivX files anyway. Same goes for mp4 subs, chapters, menus.

    Anything that converts via dshow should be able to convert anything that you can playback via dshow, which covers just about everything. You just have to have the right filters installed.

    You also have libavcodec/format based stuff like DivXtoDVD (it is still using libavcodec, etc.?) which supports most common stuff.
