Ok please bear with me here. I hope I am in the right forum. What I want to do is this.
I want to put the files from a burnt DVD on to my hard drive and then convert to .avi as a single file.
What I have done so far ( and this may not even be right ) is this.
I have used dvd decrypter to put the files on my hard drive.
This left me with a video ts folder with several files in it.
One problem is that there are several files for the one show. e.g.vts 1 is part one of the movie vts 1-2 is part 2 and vts-3 is part 3. This is not what I want. I want to have the three parts combined into one file and that is .avi.
Is there any way to do this besides what I have done so far?
I cannot use moviemaker because it says the files are not the right format.
Can anyone help me at all?
    Thanks in advance.

Load them all into DGIndex, creating a single d2v and AC3 stream. Frameserve with AVISynth for encoding, re-encode the audio via say BeSweet if you don't want AC3. Mux with AVIMuxGUI.

Some programs (e.g. ImToo Dvd Ripper) let you convert to avi directly.

True, but I never got that app to work for me. For DVD ripping i'd use Super DVD Ripper.
