Video Cutting/Editing Program?

    Im in the process of putting all the home videos my dad made from 1983 (VHS) to DVD and i have 1 part in the dvd thats funny as hell and i want to copy it from the DVD to my PC. I can put the dvd on my Hard disk but is there a program where i can copy some part of the video and make it into a smaller video. Like say i like 5 minutes of the movie can i copy this 5 minutes and make it a seperate avi,mpeg,wmv? Anyone know?

    try chopperxp it will output a vob of the section you want

    VirtualDub does the trick most of the times .Tried it ?
