Their are plenty of programs other than Adobe, you can use:-

    1. Microsoft Movie Maker
    2. Nero
    3. Ulead
    4. Sonic MYDVD

These are all pretty easy to use as adobe gets abit more technical than your standard editing program

I dont know about those software packages, but if you are looking for user friendlyness, stay away from avid. Although it is the industry standard, it took me quite a while to become aclaimated with its unique workflow and unless you are planning to become an editor or something learning how to work in an avid workflow is not worth the time. Any way, i would reccomend something like MyDVD or Some of Ulead's basic products.

By no means am I a professional so I'll put in my .02, I've played with Ulead, Nero, Adobe (trial), Pinnacle.
By far the easiest to use was Nero followed by Ulead. Nero also used the least amount of resources on the puter. I liked the results Ulead geve and may buy it in the future but I already own Nero so I'll continue with that for a while.

VirtualDub is very easy and free.

    Great for basic editing.

The main question is: What do you want to accomplish?
