OK I have Cold Mountain as an AVI file; its a DVDRip xVid file. When i open it with quicktime, i get the following: "Some necessary quicktime software is missing..." The video play perfectly fine in Quicktime, but I get no sound. I've had avi files of movies work fine before, this is the first one ive had problems with. When I go to the website that it suggests, it just has a list of different plugins to download. Do i need one of these or is it a problem with my file? Here is the link they give me http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html

anything?? i tried burning the avi to a dvd-r and it worked but with no sound, it took exactly the same amount of time that it usually takes. Toast encoded it then burned it; the video came out fine, just no sound.
