you need those video files in mp4 format (mpeg 4)...you would need a program to change the format...

I am also having the same sort of problem with transfering anything video to my video iPod. I downloaded some video files off of KGtunes, converted them into MPEG-4 with PG DVD to iPod converter, and put my small clips in my itunes library. I clicked "update iPod" but nothing happens! My files are in the right format, when I go to the advanced options and click the'convert file' option, it says that all of my videos are already converted. Yet, none of them are even showing up on my ipod! No titles or anything. I'm really not a very 'technical' person, so any advice would be much much apreciated!!

When I played around with the video iPod, is that iTunes does not have the option to update videos automatically set up. You have to do the following:
    1) open iTunes
    2) connect your video iPod
    3) Go to "Edit" -> "Preferences", which will open a dialog box
    4) click on the "iPod" tab, which will bring up additional tabs in the pane below
    5) click on the "Videos"
    6) You should see the option "Do not update videos" selected.
    7) click on "automatically update all videos" - this may bring up a warning dialog box, just click ok
    8) update your vidpod.

sit back and enjoy that expansive 2.5" screen!! Hope this helps...

Hi i'd like to recommend you use this DVD to ipod video converter suite,it can not only rip dvd to ipod but also can convert almost all kinds of video files in your hard disc, it's an all-in-one solution for dummies, it works perfect for me. You can download from http://www.allforvideo.com/download/iPodSuit_r56510.exe if you like, it is not free, but it worth it, i bet you will not regret, good luck!
