Ok, I got the new version of iTunes, and converted some videos I had to the format iPod could play. I then loaded the newly-formatted videos onto my iPod. I disconnect the iPod, goto my video collection and I start to play the video. To my misfortune, its plays the video, but without sound. As if it is on mute...
I have a similar problem where my vids start playing with sound but then will stall for a second or two and come back with no sound.
I am also experiencing the video sound cutting out. Some files work fine on the ipod, while others play with sound for 30 seconds, stall then play on without sound. If you press menu and come out, then press play the file starts again, with sound for about 30 secs. I tried deleting one of these files and re-transferring it. That worked for one file, but not the others. The files play fine from the ipod but running on my PC in iTunes. The original files on my PC hard drive also play fine in iTunes. I'm not really sure what to do next? My files are from a variety of sources. None of my music vids seem affected - just movies. I have downloaded the new itunes and the new 1.1 ipod software for 5th Gen. Any ideas?
Have you converted them though? If yes, what are you using to convert. If no, check the guides at the top of the forum.
pcmblues, post your query in dkmopq's guide thread, as his guide specifies the Cucusoft method, and he (I am assuming) will know a lot about it..

Hi, I'm having a similar issue, viz: rip DVD using "Imtoo DVD to IPOD Converter", import to iTunes, all looks good. Play the DVD on my iPod, it runs for 30 secs or so then pauses for 10 secs then continues to play without audio. The only way 'round this seems to be to use the centre button to go forward or back in the movie a few seconds which rectifies the problem about 20% of the time, sometimes I do this about five times then it works OK for the rest of the movie. Movies play fine in Quicktime. Does this mean the converter is bodgy and I need to use a different one or are there some settings I need to change? All the best, Simon
i am having the problem where my video plays with no sound except for the whole time i play it and i am converting it to the correct format straight from itunes is their anything i can do to make this work thanks for taking your time to read
ok fine ill just post it here since im bored! (THIS IS FOR PC Microsoft Programmed Only!) (I DONT HAVE A MAC!) (I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING!) •Make a video folder first `````````````````````````` [1.]Click Start and click on My Documents [2.]Right click and click on New and then Folder [3.]Then rename the Folder to Videos •The programm `````````````` [1.]go to www.pspvideo9.com (yes i know, PSP!<-- but it works well) [2.]on the right hand saide of the website click Full install, then save or run [3.]After its done, run it and jsut ignor the beginning, put manual find psp and it shuld just go through. [4.]click on setup and on the side of "One-click Profile:SP/etc." change it to exactly to this --> "SP/320x240/29.97fps/768kpbs Stereo/128kbps" [5.]Click on Browse from Output videos and locate the folder we made. (Usually it should be "C:\Documents and Settings\----\My Documents\Videos) [6.]After that, ignore everything else around and click on convertand start converting. •Dragging the Videos ```````````````````` [1.]Once it is done coverting locate your folder and there should be two files a video, ones .MP4 and the other .THM [2.]Select both and drag it to itunes>Videos and thats it, its on ur itunes •Changing the File Name ``````````````````````` [1.]when your done draggin over to itunes, right click the video and click on file and click on get info, then click on the info tab. [2.]there should be a silly name like and then there should be a silly name like "M4V01020", just earase that and change it to anything you want to show on the ipod. (((Warning:o Not change the File Name on the Videos Folder or else it might now work again))) •Putting the Videos in your iPod ```````````````````````````````` [1.]After Renaming your video, drag it to your library and then connect your ipod. [2.]make sure you have your ipod on automatic updates, and if its not jsut drag the video to your ipod name and it should start to update. THATS IT! HAPPY CONVERTING! LOOKS LONG BUT ITS ACTUALLY EASY! REALLY EASY!
pballer, i had the same problem to but then i found out its not the videos fault, its the videos audios fault. just do what i sad and it shuld work perfect.
no problem. the Trademarked! ok! lol.. u welcome guys have fun. o eyah u know what sucks. i only had my ipod video for 2 days and when i went skateing i fell on it and my LCD screen broke and like... apple store wont take it back to fix, fags! i hate them, next time i buy a better ipod, im getting it from circuit city or sumtin. eyah it sucks! u guys got videos and now i dont, i cant see anything.! well happy convertings!
zero4eva - next time, get an iSkin or a protective case (get it off eBay for a decent price). I am not saying they will prevent the hard drive from corrupting if you drop it, but if you get one with a screen protector, then it will certainly help keep your LCD in good form
Any of you guys that need help with the sound cutting out of the video after about 30 seconds, from what I hear off of the other forums, the new 1.1 version of iTunes is what is causing the problem. The old 1.0 firmware works better for video ipods so if you have to, just downgrade and it should get rid of this video problem. Now, the way I was told to do this was to go to my computer and then go to Tools> Folder Options>View>Hidden Files and Folders> and click "Show Hidden Files and Folders". If this is already clicked, good. Then you plug in your ipod and when your computer notices it, go back to my computer and click on the ipod drive. then go to the ipod control folder or the folder that is somewhat transparent. Then go to device and then click on sysinfo. Choose Notepad as the program to open it with. Once you do that, go to buildID and change it from 0x06108000 to 0x051018000. Once you do that, click save and then exit. Once you do that, go to start>all programs> ipod>Previous updaters> iPod Updater 2005-10-12. Then just click update! This should help the majority of people out there. For all the people that haven't had their ipod long enough to own an old version of iTunes, I'm still trying to figure out a way to fix this. But, the cd that came with your ipod is the 1.1 version firmware of iTunes and what you need is the 1.0 So when I figure something out, I'll let you all know.
seanathin- You are correct. we have had so many complaints about the upgrade, the main one being freezing frames within the video. I urge all (at least all of you with a video iPod) to [bold]not[/bold] upgrade, but if you already have, follow the instructions above to downgrade..
