I was wondering why videos lose quality when making the media player screen bigger, is there a way to prevent that? If it helps, I'm watching an mkv video in Windows Media Player 11.
The video is made up of individual picture element (pixels). A file of a given size (eg 384 pixels wide by 288 pixels high which is 110592 total pixels) contains the sum total of all the detail that can be squeezed into this area by the software that was used to create the scene. When the picture is expanded to fill the screen, the amount of detail in the original does not change - it simply expands to fill the available space and becomes blurred.
