video re-size problem

    i have a avi file that is 4:3 but it looks squished together like it should be 16:9. how can i re-size it to the correct aspect ratio and what program will help me achieve this.

    i have vlc and can change the way its played but so it looks right but for the sake of convenience so i can just use windows media player

    yea but its not working i browse the file it loads it i choose the aspect ratio and save it but it dosent change it im probably doing something wrong

    No, you probably did okay, is the player that ignores the PAR. the only other way that I can think of doing it is to re-encode it, but you'd lose quality.

    yea your right i opened the file that mpeg4 modifier made with vlc and it shows it correctly but when i open it with windows media player it still looks the same why does windows not show it right can this be changed some way?

    Not sure. Do you have the latest WMP?

    yes, just dl the latest version and installed just in case and still dosent show it properly
