hello members,just fitted a t.v. card to my computer.i am trying to put my own personal videos on dvd disc, when i play the video that i want to record it comes up in black and white on my computer.!! is this normal ?? if its not normal and should come up in colour, how to i go about it?? any help please !! thanks in advance !! hope this is in the right forum !!
Are the tapes you're having a problem with in NTSC format? If you're in the UK and you play an NTSC tape what your VCR is outputting is PAL-60 (PAL color but with an NTSC framerate). This mixed signal will look fine on your TV but create a black/white image with many capture devices. Try to capture a PAL tape to check if this is what's happening. If that's the problem check the configuration closely on your capture card. See if there is an option to allow it to select PAL-60 as the video source. Also check to see if there are updated drivers for the capture card that allow PAL-60 capture. If the black/white problem has nothing to do with PAL-60, are you using an S-video cable? Just as a test, try swapping to a composite color cable to see if you get color.
hello moonrocks, i live in ireland moonrocks! the video tapes over here are pal format. i am also useing a 3 phone scart switch 1.5 universal adapter video/s, hama svhs lead 2m,and 3.5 stereo- 2x phone plug,and the tv card is a typhoon pci capture ! i worked out how to copy them on disc ! but the copy came out in black and white !!and the picture on my computer is b/w as well. i will check out if there are up dates needed ! the shop were i bought the card is opened to day i will call in and tell them my problem ! i will report back when i get this correct ! thanks for the reply moonrocks ! softman..
well i tryed and swapped the s-video cable, made no difference!my video tapes are pal. i also have it set up as pal to copy ! any more ideas as to what might be the reason ?? all conections are goog and tight ! were would i go to check for upgrade ??
moonrocks, you were spot on with your advice !!!!! i then went into "setup " and device" and changed setting from s-video to composite, and the screen came blue also got video in colour ! you have made an irish man happy to day with your advice !! thanks again! softman..
