I have just recently had a problem with burning video ts files. I normally burn image files but i have tried to burn 2 ts folders in the last couple of days. I use nero 7 and when i insert the vob files, i get an error message "dvd files reallocation failed. The dvd video might be unplayable" do you want to continue?

I carried on and burnt the files but while both load in a standalone, i found that although the files/chapters etc seem to be in order the picture freezes and certain chapter selections wont load. I did update nero last week, and there was an update available for most aspects of nero, i dont know what the prob can be as everything was fine until recently. I tried burning with Ashampoo and although i got no error message the burn took a long time and the disc would not play on my standalone.

Hope somebody can offer some advice.

    Thanks in advance

What program did you use to rip the movie to the hardrive? If you copied the movie only did you deselect this applies to clone DVD keep the menus when shrinking the film for a dvd5 when you get this error it usually refers too reference files missing i.e. if you copied just the movie but left the menus option but the menus aren’t there this is why you get the error

Downloaded video ts file of retail dvdrs. Normally just burn them from folder, they are normally ready to go. Its never been a problem before. All menus and chapters are normally intact and play fine.

you say an image file works ok and VIDEO_TS file burning doesnt, now, would this be on the same batch of dvdr's?

not chapter jumping/freezing is usually bad media! or good media burnt too fast, plus multitasking while burning etc...

    also

you need to use DVD-VIDEO project and only place the files = vob/ifo/bup into the VIDEO_TS folder nero makes, yes nero makes its own VIDEO_TS folder, dont make mistake of loading your video ts folder into another. only the files bob only the files (into neros)

should not get that error popup then...

    burn at 4x or 6x

    Thanks for responding Rotary,

Yes its the same batch of dvdrs, but i am getting the error message before i insert any media. I posted the error message in my original post. I have been burning dvds for a long time wiithout issue. Most of the time it is Img files, but occasionally i get a video ts file to burn.Never been a problem before.

I thought it might be a nero problem but when i burnt the files with Ashampoo it completed but my dvd player wouldnt run it. Not sure what the prob is.

By the way i burn ts files with the dvd video files option.

dvd shrink video reallocation failed, but files encoded succesfully.

Loaded the encoded backed up files back into nero, same type of error message, i think i posted it originally. It says the dvd may be unplayable do you want to continue? Maybe i have just been very unlucky to grab 2 faulty ts files.

I got a slightly oversized dvd 5 the other day and had to shrink it. The files were fine and i put it on a dvd5 (with nero) without issue.

I am puzzled with this problem. Thanks for helping to find a solution.

    Cheers Rotary,

I have a few iso`s in a folder. I chose one that i burnt a while ago. I put it through shrink and then through nero in video ts format, no prob at all. I guess i was just very unlucky to get 2 dodgy lots of files consecutively.

    Thanks for your help.
