For the last two weeks, I've tried everything from buying new media, tweaking my laser, all the way to even buying a new burner (which seems now like its gonna get taken back as I see zero difference, if anything, worse results). Although I have had some success with a few games (Mario Kart Double Dash, Resident Evil 4), I cannot for the life of me make a perfect copy of Mario Power Tennis. Every single copy I've made, on every different BIOS DRE at some point in the opening video. I tweaked my laser from 216 to 181, although I admit it wasnt much of a trial and error, as I had to go to a lab at the University to barrow a multimeter. I started with a Sony DRU-530a, and after updating the firmware had decent results, but still wasnt satisfied, so I bought a NEC-3550a yesterday. I've been using RitekG04 DVD-R Minis, as well as RitekG05 full sized DVD-Rs. Basically, I'd like to use full sized DVD-Rs but I have not had a SINGLE fully functional full size since I got my chip. What am I doing wrong? I've burned at 2x, 4x, used Nero, IMGBurn; This is pretty frustrating for all the money I've put into it, as you can imagine.

Anyone have any advice? I would say I should tweak the laser but the games errors in the SAME POINT in the video for each disc. Doesnt that seem like a media/burner error? All my games start up but its the video sequence at the beginning or after a boss fight (in RE4's case) that gets me. C'mon tell me something easy I'm forgetting ;)

maybe the gc laser is dying on you, if you had the cube for some time, a good thought would be to change the actual laser mechanism. replace it with a new one and see what happens.

Well, ever think that maybe the image files were crap to begin with? If every copy fails at or around the same spot, then the image is what's causing your problem. Also, make sure you're finalizing the disc whenever you burn these games.

Try using other image files and see if they work any better.
