Ok, I am new to creating DVD's. I usually just burn them instead of making my own. Well, I have a bunch of .ogm files that I need to be able to play on my home DVD player. I tried to convert them to .avi using VirtualDub because I think my dvd player will play .avi (not sure yet). The problem is that the 24 min video is 25GB big. How do you shink it down to a manageable size without losing too much of the quality. The original file was 214,000KB if that matters. Thanks Chris
Ok, now it doesn't play in the dvd player. Is there a different format I have to turn it into besides .avi?
If you just have a Regular DVD player then the AVI files need to be Converted to DVD Format and authored to DVD, If you would Like Menu"s and Chapters in your DVD Like a Retail DVD you have to first encodeing the AVI file to Mpeg-2/DVD Format and then use a DVD Authoring program to add your menu"s and Chapter Points and then the program will format it all into a Video_TS Folder and Burn it to DVD.... Makeing DVD"s is a Little More Complex than Just Burning a File to a DVD especially if you want the best Quality and want menu"s and Chapters but if you want ti just watch the Movie on your DVD player and don"t care about the menu"s and Chapters than you can do it pretty easilly useing a program Like "VSO DivXToDVD".... You can download DivXToDVD here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm It will Convert your AVI file into a "Video_TS" folder and an "Audio_TS" folder which you simply burn to DVD-R in DVD-Video Mode useing something like Nero burning rom...You will usually get a Better Burn if you Burn at a Slower speed than the rated Speed... Thanks. I appreciate the time you spent on me. I think I will start off with just getting the files off of my computer first...maybe later I can worry about making fancy DVD's. Great info though.
