I have never had this before the sound is MP3 and I have all codecs the sound plays fine on my computer

I have scan the web and found nothing that answers my question

The problem is that your PC has no AC3 decompressor that VirtualDub can use.
To keep things simple (unless you install a AC3 decompressor ot you 'teach' TMPGenc to load AC3 files, maybe with AC3ACM program http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/ , but I never tried it): simply Demux with VirtualDubMod (or Save WAV with VirtualDub set in Direct Stream Copy), convert to 'MP2' , if the source file is 48 kHz check the box 'downsample to 44.1 kHz' and Start converting.
Once it finished, use that .MP2 audio file as TMPGenc's 'audio input' of your mpeg encoding program.
