Ok i've been trying to compress the video from my Minority Report DVD but leave either DolbyD 5.1 or DTS. *I intend to keep it on my hard drive*. Im running Windows XP with 2.4ghz (OCed) plenty of HDD space, etc. Ok i cant get nandub or any version of virtualdubmod to keep the ac3 real. See my problem is unique in that I have a DTS/DD 5.1 decoder recevier. So I don't want it just to sound good or be software decoded. Let me explain. Ok see after I recombine the pass2.avi (from DVD to xvid ac3 guide) with the ac3 file, the sound is only in the front and the decoder LEDs on the receiver dont come on (not really 5.1 digital). I can take just the muxed ac3/dts file and play them with powerdvd and playcenter and it works fine and the decodeer light comes on. So i think, ok all i have to do is combine this with the video. but no matter what i try the output final file doesn't play 5.1. I playback the final with powerdvd/wmp/BS player/elecard no success. Also I use a SPDIF out to the receiver and powerdvd has spdif support and it reads just the mux audio fine. See i know its VirtualDMod becuase when I select my .ac3 muxed file for the audio stream (when i'm multilexing final) its reads it as a 3ch with like over 5 hours of run time, even though the file from dvd2avi is clearly written in its file name desc. as 2 hours 25min (exact length of video)(it also shows this right time length in playcenter) and is 5ch. Everything up until multiplexing is fine. My video is xvid compressed through regualr VD and the ac3 muxed file is decoded by my receiver fine. I seriously appreciate any help. I've been on this far too long just for some better sound
Update: Ok i used a program called MPX creator to multiplex my ac3 and avi. wmp and powerdvd dont play it but BS player does. I played around with BS palyers spdif settings to no avail but i have proven that it wasnt VirtualDubMod (or at least not fully). So my file is complete with ac3. However something is decoding the ac3 before it reaches my receiver (software). It has to be directshow or something. Any ideas? also if anyone is familar with MPX. How do i get to the source filter that they show on there page? It isn't with the other programs installed. In the filter it has an option for spdif out that i need. thanks
