VirtualDUBMod is giving me oversized output files. I have a 709 MB VOB file stored on my hard drive. I opened it on this program so I can convert it to AVI. It went as far as some 2 or 3 GB file. I screwed around with the compression and video mode options, but it did not help much. I can't use Direct Stream Copy b/c something about alogrithm(sp?) missing. What is the program's problem?

Just in case, TMPGEnc doesn't work for me either. It doesn't support VOB files.

I already have the audio extracted from DVD2AVI. So I'm fine with that. I need the video so I can mix em both on VirtualDUB.

Can someone list programs that allow you to convert *.VOB files to *.AVI

    So far,
DVD2AVI- comes out to 0 MB files, only good is to extract audio
    VirtualDUB- won't accept VOB files
VirtualDUBMod- produces 2 or 3 GB AVI files from 100 MB VOB files

A persnal suggestion: first do VOB --> MPEG as wtitten in http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ (you can do both VCD or SVCD using TMPGenc Plus + DVD2AVI), later compress it.
Compressing a 720x480 movie is often a loss of time (and you cannot get a small AVI without losing a lot of quality). Compressing a 352x240 or a 480x480 movie is better, instead.
