@ ckindya You have two anti-viruses running on your machine and I also noticed a couple of Norton files. It looks like the Norton files were from an online scan. McAfee and AVG. They will conflict with each other. Please remove one completely. Let me know which one you decide to keep so that I can get your HjT log clean. Remove these items from your HjT log. Okay it looks like we got rid of a tyrant! Your system is much cleaner. I need to know what anti-virus you decided to keep. You have Symantec, AVG, and McAfee. Did you remove two of them? Which one did you keep? I need to know this to finish your log. There are only a few more items that need to be removed. Along with that there are a few more things that you need to do. 1) Download from Microsoft.com service pack 2 and any other available updates for you PC 2) If you do not have another firewall except the one on your o/s I would suggest downloading one called [bold]Prevx[/bold] from download.com 3) I do not have AOL but if that is your browser then select Tools -> Options (may be browser options) clear your Cache, Cookies, and temp files. 4) Next open Windows Explorer example follows: Start-> All Programs-> Accessories-> Windows Explorer (a new window will open) Click Tools-> Folder options->select the tab that says View and you will see folders. The first folder is Files and Folders the second folder is called Hidden files and folders. Under the Hidden files and folders select the bullet that says show hidden files and folders. Now all folders will be visible. [bold]Remember that when you are finished to go back and select the bullet that says Do not show hidden files and folders.[/bold] [bold]I hope you are getting this as you go. Do not mess with any folder except the one that says Ali. Highlight Ali and you should see a folder called Local Settings. Highlight Local settings and you should see a folder called Temp. Highlight Temp and on the right hand side you will see a huge list of temporary items. These are where application store things temporarily. You probably have at least 1000 items in there. Select Edit->Select All then hit delete. Now it may come up and say a certain file can not be deleted just hit OK and the file that can not be deleted will be the first in the list. Highlight the file closest to the left of the page that does not include the one that can not be deleted and then grab the scroll bar on the right and drag it down to the end of the page. While holding Shift select the last folder on the far right of the page. If there are a couple after it don’t worry you can delete them in a minute. If you get stopped again follow the last procedure I just told you. Now in the Windows Explorer scroll down until you find another folder called Cache if there are any files in there you may delete them. Now there are other places that I could tell you to delete files, but these are the primary ones. Now be sure to go back and change the view to not show hidden folders. After you have completed all of this post another HjT log and let’s see how you did!

Make sure you update your XP to service pack 2. Service pack 2 offers more security. Also get that Prevx firewall I mentioned. This will add to your security. It is fine to have both Windows firewall and another running. However, I do not recommend running two 3rd party firewall. The Prevx is good because it will let you know if anything is trying to intrude or if programs are trying to access the Internet. Read what it says and if you do not want it to have access you your system you tell to deny. Let me know if everything is working for you. You shouldn’t have any more annoying pop-ups. You can also download a toolbar from google that has a pop-up blocker.

hello! I am currently having an annoying virus problem.I constantly get a pop-up appering on my screen and a message which appers above my clock in the right corner of my screen. I am using Windows XP Media Center and running Mcafee Anti-Virus 2006 . I also am unable 2 clean my registry files because when I do a message that says "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator " appears and I am the "administrator" .Any help would be grately appreciated.
