I am just wondering if rams can have virus or worms in them?

Here is the story, I purchased some rams from an online computer store for my company's dell sever. The main computer guy in our company said that since the rams are not from dell(which cost a fortune) it might void dell's warranty on the sever. Also, the guy said that rams might have worms or virus embedded in them that can harm the sever.

He started saying all these stuff about better to spend 700 dollars more to buy from dell(compared to where I got mine for 130) for a peace of mind. I even checked the rams that came from the sever and they are not even dell.

In conclusion, I think the stuff about virus or worms embedded by reseller are totally bogus. What do you guys think? As for as I know, rams are volatile types of memory and shouldn't have virus on them after it is powered down.

it is bogus because any file or program in the ram stays there as long as there is power. if power was turned off then all files/programs are gone. does windows show up immediately on the screen once the power is turned on, no as it has to be reloaded off the hard drive were a virus may reside. dell & the other name brand companies don't make their parts which are made by other companies but they do assemble them. same stick of ram, same hard drive or rom drive used in name brand computers can be bought at a lot lower price at your local computer store or online.
