I started receiving some popup ads (hasnt happened in years) so i downloaded avast antivirus.

Avast has been scanning allday. It has located and removed several trojans and viruses and adware.
However the last 3 times i have turned on my computer avast has scanned and wants to restart because it detects viruses running.
however i have preformed the startup scan twice today and this still happens.

The following are popup ads that have been appearing on my computer.

Kevin Gets Green. Learn how to make $5000 per month posting links on google.

VBS.TV (I just started seeing this one today.)

    Jump (a search engine?)

There is one that is disguised as some kind of spyware scanner that is in reality an advertisement.

They seem to pop up at random intervals instead of being in sync with my surfing (two have popped up as i have been typing this)

I usually use firefox explorer. the ads usually popup in the firefox explorer window but sometimes they pop up in an windows internet explorer window instead.

    Thanks.
    Also one that

    its malware.

I had to restore my computer to factory settings.
There is an option to do that when you start up.
you should backup all important files before you do this (movies, music, anime, documents, ect...)

You might want to try this:

Install tht Yahoo toolbar. It has a function to automaticaly stop pop-ups, even before windows does.

    Hopes this helps
