First...THANKS to the Mods and Admin for a most excellent forum and website. I have been reading and reading like crazy the last few days and am completely impressed with the knowledge base here.
    _____

I have been using SantaDVD for converting .avi to DVD-ready files for a few weeks now and then, I stumbled upon this grand place and started reading up on Nero Vision Express.

I already use NeroBurningROM 6 and am quite happy with it.

Would using Vision Express make a quality difference and/or benefit me in anyway?

After reading thru many posts and replies, I gather to "not use" version 4 of Vision but am left unclear about what is the best version of Vision Express/which should I buy?

I wish my first post here could be in helping someone else but unfortunately, I'm not at that knowledge level, yet so for now, accept my sincere THANKS for AfterDawn and it's members.

    Hi AlexT
Well I haven't used DVD Santa so I can't really compare the 2 quality wise.
But I can say that Nero Vision probably has more options than DVD Santa like editting, creating your own menus, titles, animated menus and such.
    Just to name a few.

If you have the full version of Nero 6 - check and see if you have Vision Express. Not all of the animated stuff is in 6 but it will give you an idea.

Vision 4 I've had no problems with. It's come a long way since Nero 7 1st came out last year. May want to give the demo a try.

    Thanks for the reply, binkie.

Yes, I agree with you...I'm sure Vision Express is more to my liking and needs.

I have Nero Ultra Edition 6.6.0.8 and have "nero express" but of course (and an argh! thrown in), I do not have "vision express."

I will see if I have an upgrade option and/or can just get Vision Express. I guess my only concern is, it seems quite a few folks are saying to stick with Nero 6 so I don't think I could just upgrade and get Vision Express, etc. You understand what I mean.

I appreciate your thoughts and help, binkie...THANK YOU.

    Not a problem AlexT

Sounds like you may have an oem version of Nero. You can try updating to this version but the serial # you have decides what programs in Nero you have access to.
Package 1 - burning rom, toolkit, express etc.
Package 2 - recode, vision, showtime etc.

If you are converting Xvid AVI's they will usually have VBR audio. Nero Vision Express (at least 2 and 3) might not be a good choice as audio sync problems usually occur.
