Hope I am in the right forum, and have not overlooked a previous post, but here is my problem. WMP has decided it can only be opened as "Run as Administrator". Have no idea how this came about. Recently instlled BitDefender and it happened around that time. Have tried to reinstall but that says the machine has a later version and it cannot be used to install an earlier version. Have tried cmd.exe then "unregmp2.exe/UpdateWMPVersion" and that did not work either. Have tried to uninstall WMP11 but it says I need permission to do this even though I am signed in as administratr. Am running Vista Home Premium on Toshiba Laptop. My nero showtime works fine and can use it to watch videos, but WMP was what I used to load my Sony Walkman files, and now I can not get new files into it's library. Any one know how I can deal with this problem? Thx
no, I haven't tried that! How would removing BitDefender change the problem of my install saying I have a later version and it cannot install?
yes, I tried that but it did not help. Have turned off user account control and that solved the problem. Several prgrams (including WMP now have "not responding) issues, so guess I must look further. Really wish that Microsoft had stuck with XP and never thought of VISTA
