Hi all. I have a PC running Vista Home Premium 32bit with an Optiarc 7200S DVDRW attached.

All was well for a while burns were good, drive was reliable. I started to get a lot of bad burns so I updated firmware which appeared to resolve the problem, (appeared!).

A week or so ago on a reboot I was asked to supply the disk as there were no drivers for the drive, I tried the vista disk but no drivers were installed. Since I have not been able to use the drive.

The drive shows in device manager with a yellow exclamation mark suggesting no drivers. When I try to install from:

    %systemroot%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

I get a message telling me that Windows found driver software but encountered an error while attempting to install it - the error being that The system cannot find the file specified!!!

I cannot find any drivers on line nor can I access the Vista disk. Although the drive shows in Device Manager, My Computer does not see it.

I have managed to reflash the firmware back as the drive is seen in My Computer when I reboot, but I still cannot install drivers.
I have also rolled back the system but still cannot get the drive to work.
I have been looking and it has been suggested that I delete the upper and lower filters through regedit, but there are no filters there to delete

Please help and thank you for any answers offered.

OK I thought I had managed to reflash the drive. The firmware is the 1.6 I had originally upgraded to.
