Vista Failing To Boot

    hi all, my moms computer suddenly decided to stop working.

    not sure what happened, but here goes...

    turn the computer on and it comes to a 'Windows Error Recovery' screen, i do the 'StartUp Repair' that does its thing, says its successful.
    so then it restarts, but hangs on the 'Microsoft Corperation' boot screen and just hangs there. after 15 minutes i get bored of waiting and switch it off.

    any help?

    The laptop is an eMachines eMG720, running vista Home Basic. (if anything else is needed, ask)
