i know i installed it properly, but my 4gb ram is only showing up as 3gb in vista. it shows up as 4gb in my bios. did i get the wrong speed ram or something? i have tried switching them around and still it only reports 3gb. maybe i have a faulty chip or something. anyone know the answer?

Yeah, you have Vista 32 bit. Only the 64 bit versions of the OS's will have support and show 4GB. I do believe that even though Vista only shows 3GB, it is using 4GB. Vista itself automatically sets aside 1GB for itself.

Ya, it's 32-bit. Okay, as long as working right, then I don't care what it reports. I thought it wasn't recognizing one the ram chips or something.

    Thanks
