When using TMPGenc to create an SVCD from an AVI, picture is good but no sound. Everywhere I've read says to extract the AC3 audio to a wav file using VirtualDub and then use both files in TMPGenc. My main problem is that every AVI (with AC3 audio) I try to load into VirtualDub shows an error "Couldn't locate decompressor for 'XviD' (Unknown) - ...requires a VFW compatible codec...". I am using Windows98SE with XviD Mpeg4 codec and AC3Filter + AC3 ACM codecs (plus others) - AVI file plays fine using Media Player 7. Is there a specific way to get VirtualDub to recognise codecs? Can someone please tell me where I am going wrong.

Try downloading and installing the Nimo Codec Pack (available on Google search.)
