Has anyone had any success with running a VPN on an MX Android TV box? I'm looking into taking out a Private Internet Access subscription but suspect it may be tricky when it comes to these android tv boxes as the Openvpn app from the playstore says not compatible. I understand that you may be able to manually configure the VPN through the box's settings but would be interested to know if anyone's managed to do this before taking out a PIA subscription?
Cannot say anything about PIA but don't be put off by the Play Store saying apps are incompatible, that's a common problem with android TV boxes, particularly bought directly from China. Instead, try to download the APK installer from Google Play and install it manually from a USB stick or something. https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/ Just enter the Play Store link for any app you want to download and click Generate Download Link and it should work.
