Hi, i need some help on this one for sure.I recently downloaded a file called " the ring of the nibelungs".When i check out the file type it shows it is a vbr file.I never heard of this type of file but my research indicates this type of file is related to audio files.Well it certainly isnt an audio file as i can watch the whole movie in real player.I,ve tried to convert it with winavi and other converters such as roxio but the file is not reconised by any of these programs. The bottom line is i cannot convert it or burn it with the programs i,m familiar with but i dont want to delete it alsoalso as it seems like a good movie.Any help would be apprecieatedto solve my problem. Thanks
Download gspot and have it analize the file post back the results vbr stands for varible bit rate it is not a file type the file may have been wrongly named
Hi, thanks for the reply.I downloaded Gspot.Itseems like a neat program.I loaded the file in gspot and you are right the file was named wrong.Gspot says its a realmedia(.rm) file but it comes up blank as to the codec needed to convert and burn this file.It says the file is not supported.I think this is one file that cannot be converted to view in a stand alone dvd player but only on a pc.I have a good many hours spent on this file trying to figure it out and i hate to quit on it as it is a learning experience if i can figure a way to burn it.There may be other files out there like it although this is the only one i,ve seen, but i,m only new at it also.Maybe there will be more input from others on the forum to help solvr the problem.I,m half ways there with your suggestion.Again thanks .
I dont know of a free rm to dvd converter but I know that boilsoft avi to mpeg-2 converter can do it there is a trial version but it water marks your movie http://www.boilsoft.com/aviconverter/
