would you say that VSO ConvertXtoDvd is one of the best programs to convert xvid to dvd? Mine seems to take for ever to convert, then I have to wait even longer to burn it to my dvd with nero recode, any suggestions would be great.

why are you burning the output file from vso's convertXtodvd with nero recode?
if the file is too big, just alter the output size

there is a dvd-5 setting, but i prefer custom,to keep the data away from the edge of the disk

    [bold]settings[/bold]/encoding/[bold]target size[/bold]/custom-4300mb.

convertXtodvd also has a burn engine

    [bold]settings[/bold]/burning/tick the [bold]burn results to dvd[/bold] tab

the average spec'd pc,should convert (on vso's default setting)/burn an avi file of around 700mb in an hour or so,even quicker on the fast encoding/low quality seting
the quality is way better than winavi imo

    good luck

it depends on what seting for encoding you have set go into setings and select encoding and there will be a drop down menu that will say high quailty medium quialty and low quailty so depending on the quailty you want click on the one you want, i my self use the high quailty cuse if i am puting it on dvd i want the best i can get, hope that helps

ConvertXtoDvd usually takes about a hour to convert for me. But I have had so many coasters that I have stopped using the prog. I used Winavi but found the prog to be crap. I eventually started using Canopus Procoder. Takes at least two hours per film, but great quality.

I have started using ConvertXtoDVD and personally I am not bothered with how long it takes because I know i'll get perfect results... a nice smooth DVD with no skipping or jumping. Just gotta use the right media.. I use Taiyo Yudens, expensive but bloody worth it.

And I burn with the latest Pioneer DL burner.

    Perfect results.

Somebody said it slows their computer down too?

Well to be honest, when your encoding and/or burning to DVD you shouldn't be doing anything on your computer... have as little programmes running as possible

    Hope this helps

ive been using convertxtodvd since when it was divxtodvd but anyways

having a problem. About 2 weeks ago i might have possibly changed some kind of setting, because now when i get to the burn stage after it encodes i guess u would say, even with a blank dvd in the burn button is greyed out no matter what i do? I cant change the volume name or anything. My primary use for this program is Ive been putting big files onto a dvd from my cpu, lately ive just been taking what i have done with convertx and then opening up dvd shrink, a lot more hassle. What possibly could i have changed to not allow me to do the burn stage anymore?
    i use 2.0.13.128 version
    thanks
