This ilo dvd recorder is a piece of crap.I have wasted a lot of time and money trying to copy my old VHS tapes only to have the unit start pausing during recording.Often it is due to a "poor signal strength"even though I am using gold cables. This also happens when recording from my DVR which should be an excellent signal. It also gives me a lot of ghosting. If it does record it will usually play back on other units but I have had to throw away a lot of disks because of it failing halfway into the recording.I will never buy another ilo product.I guess I got what I payed for.

    Wow

I have Three 04 series ilo units two with HDD and had three 05 Series units The 04 are two years old. The 04 is LiteOn the 05 is Cyberhome

All worked fine and my cables were not gold. The 05 units would not copy CP protected media as most units will not. A good share of commercial VHS had MV copy protection

You may be trying to record something that can't be recorded and or not operating the unit correctly.

Your equipment could be connected improberly resulting in a poor siginal, or the source is bad
Of course the unit could be defective but I doubt it

Thanks LCSHG but my home vhs and dvr sources are not copy protected. In fact I have a video stabilizer that will overcome most cp but in this case that is not the problem.I believe the ilo unit is just not a very well made component.Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for the help anyway.
