The Gamecube does not have the ability to read mini DVD-R's as of yet and it is not really clear if the new modchip will fix this problem. From what I have read of the description of what the modchip is for, I don't believe anything has changed with regards to this problem. It would appear that it simply allows execution of homebrew software without the need for the PSO/BBA exploit. I do however believe that a modchip such as this one will lead to modifying the Gamecube to read mini DVD-R's once someone smart enough is able to write a homebrew program that accomplishes such.
