Ive been trying to do this by myself for about .. 3 days now, and ive had no luck. I download lots of episodes of anime and things like that. I hard a puny harddrive, and need to start burning these things onto DVDs. I have sucessfully gotten 7 200mb movies onto 1 DVD, but the burning process took 10 hours (It was Nero Vision, so it encoded AND burned) Id be happy with 7 eps, but im not happy at all at how long it takes to make each DVD. I got CCE, mainconcept, etc, each ep takes about...40 minutes to encode with those, which isnt too bad.... **** But anyway, on to the real question here, Whats the best way i can go about putting as many episodes as i can onto DVDs in the shortest amount of time? MANY thanks in advance!
oh also, when i did finally burn a disk, the subtitles were cut off. anyone know how to fix that? if its possible even?
Fr0st2k, Judging from all the information you've supplied, there's no reason why you cannot do the entire job in less time. Seeing as how you are running 2, Pent 4, 3.2 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM, you should be able to reduce the time. For one, run 2 encoding / burning programs at the same time. With your resources it s/b n/p. Also, if you allow your PC to use 100% of all of it's resources, meaning, msconfig - startup - Disable All - Apply - OK and OK again to restart, you should then be able to keep 2 burners going. Since you didn't mention anything about your burners, I'll assume you have 4 of them as I have. Concentrate on using the 16X burners to keep your burn time at a minimum. Happy burning, Pete
i can only assume that that was sarcasm =\ although freeing resources is a good tip, and one that i will start to do(maybe just shut down explorer, and run programs through task manager), i have read in lots of places that the different encoders do different things, so i was hoping i could get a suggestion for a better encoder(ones that you use, didnt see much relavance to which one i used) i guess i could be a little more precise with what i acutally wanted. my pc specs, of course, arent nearly close to what you mentioned. i have a p2 933mhz 512 ram gforce2 mx card....this comp is a quite a few years old with no upgrades...so im not expecting GREAT results, just better. And i have a I/O Magic internatl DVD+-RE/+-R 16x+-R Burner Anyway, right now im using CCE, and DVD lab. CCE is encoding the eps in about 30 minutes. at .65 speed. And im happy with that...Dvd lab, im still playing around with, its alittle complicated...nonetheless, i would really like to make good looking menus, professional looking menus, not just crappy prelaidout stuff that nero and numerous other programs give you. But is it 100% essential to have to encode Avi files? or do you need a Dvd player that plays divx? Is there a good program out there, that gives you EVERYTHING you need in 1 package? like a fast encoder, and a good menu creator? And i dont have to worry about dual audio yet, but even a program that can manipulate all that good stuff.
hmmm ... i was going to the bathroom and thought...this topic could be simplified 10 fold by just asking ... What are good settings to encode anime to make the file size small and still keep good quality? And whats the best encoder out there that will make it as easy as possible?
@ Fr0st2k: petes just trying to help you, so jibes like that arent really going to endear you to any one.If you had given a more detailed account the first time around the information that was given may have been a little more detailed to your liking. actually there are only a couple of encoding programs that are any good and fast on the encoding and popular in the mainstream. You are using one ,the other is divx to dvd by vso What other authoring suites have you tried so far, as you dont mention them.
thanks for the help, i think im getting a better grasp about how all this DVD stuff works...After playing around with DVD lab, i found that it is a really powerful program, which i think i probably will be using from now on...however, it does NONE of the encoding... Im glad to see that CCE and mainconcept are some of the better ones, so i will stick with those. however, the part about the bathroom was just a joke, but the question i asked was something i really thought would simply what i was trying to ask. "What are good settings to encode anime to make the file size small and still keep good quality? And whats the best encoder out there that will make it as easy as possible? "
the quality of the source file has to be the best possible for you to get equal results in your conversions. I preferred cucusofts avi2mpeg but that was at the start of 2004, where it took 18 hrs to process a 700meg file. Now i use divx to dvd.It does the same job in about an hour. This tool will also convert avi/divx/xvid mpeg1 and mpeg2 to a dvd movie format which will then allow you to just burn it to disc and then be playable in a standalone dvd player
hi interesting read..... like said for small file size divxtodvd is the app! but it has a known bug of making some (very few!!!) a small square box in center of screen, but its rare... but for the best quailty, i like avi2dvd and film machine both apps free and i use CCE as the encoder.
hi mainconcept is doing that too? thats a dam good app too! ermm? so divxtodvd on same file is good to go? as i was thinking codecs maybe? edit is the file an mpeg and not dvd compliant one aswell!???
actually the video thats superb its rather the audio. It encodes the whole thing but when you play it the sound runs in sync for 18 mins then it peters out and you get to watch the rest in silence
Heyy, i have similar question, can someone please reply,or pm, or better yet Email me on how to do this. TNX SO MUCH Im trying to get regular Anime Files *AVI'S* About 180MB each, Bleach is what im trying to encode. I want to encode to Mpeg2 So i can burn to DVD, Im not sure what settings should i use, as for Video Size, and Bitrate, and ect. using TMPGEnc PluS...Ive been trying and i keep getting crappy results, using 3500 bitrate =/, what can i use so i can fit 7-9 episodes OF really nice quality TNX SO MUCH !!
try the divx to dvd but leave the setting s at automatic. If that is not what you want then alter the setting to suit you.Try using the batch encode feature and see if you can get all your episodes done. Its rather simple after the conversion to use nero recode to burn to disc.
Might try to use DVDLab to make some nice menus for the episodes so you can navigate through the finished DVD Cheers, Pete
