I encountered the same problem you had my friend. Put the DVD in the player and nothing, I couldn't fast forward either. All I could do is skip a chapter but then I missed the beginning of the movie. I have never had anything like this happen before.
@700club AnyDVD and Shrink had no problems with War either. If you just do the movie it requires no recoding. It fits nicely on a DVD5. Just use Shrink to reauthor the disc.
This should help, although I used this method also and it leaves about 20-30 seconds of black screen at the beginning of the movie which can be removed in Shrink. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/fixvts_guide.cfm
OK thanks, I paid for AnyDVD over a year ago but have never used it. I did do movie only and using the technique in this thread mine came out perfect. I have watched it twice already .
garmoon heres a screen shot of clonedvd 2 transcoding the movie and the first frame was about 4 seconds into the movie did yours do the same? it starts quicker on my OPPO DV-981HD but not right away
In CloneDVD preview the original movie does take about 4 sec to get started-same in Power DVD. However the back up starts in about 1.5 sec in Power DVD. Strange, but good.
Hi I'm trying to backup War and I've tried the things I'm seeing talked about here with no luck. I have DVD Fab Platinum 4. I tried doing the whole movie or just main movie and it's failing to burn. I've never ever had a problem with my media so I don't think that's the issue. I use sony dvd-r. I've read here carefully and I see talk about the first couple of seconds causing a problem. Am I missing a step in DVD Fab to remove the first few seconds? I also have the most recent version of any dvd and burn process failed with it and DVD Shrink. I also downloaded the Fix VTS file but I'm not sure exactly what I should be doing to fix this. Thanks so much and I hope someone can offer a little help. Tracie
When you say burn process failed, are you talking about the actual burning to a blank disc or are you talking about not being able to rip it to your hard drive? What are the error messages you are getting, if any? The process to use FixVts is as follows, you open the output folder from DvdFab for example & you will find the Dvd video files with extensions like VOB, BUP & IFO. You launch FixVts, make sure all three boxes are checked, then drag any VOB file into the FixVts window & drop. Click Full Dvd, click OK in the warning box that will pop up & let it do it's thing. If you have done a Full Dvd Rip to your hard drive, after FixVts is done open that file up in Dvd Shrink, reauthor, choose Title 1, uncheck everything except the 5.1 audio you want to keep. You should end up at 100%, but I would suggest doing a Deep Analysis anyway (I always do), before backing it up to an ISO File or hard disk folder, then burn with ImgBurn in either ISO Write Mode or Build Mode. Of course if you are having problems with the rip, this won't help that, in fact it would be totally useless, (LOL).
tracie28 after you use dvdfab decrypter run the file though fixvts to clean it futher then dvd shrink should transcode it(removing the blank cells at the beginning of the movie) with no problem, use this guide http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/
Thank you so much for your help. You gave me the easiest explanation ever and I did exactly what you said and it worked perfect!!! Thank you again and those guides are great too although this time I didn't even need them. Thanks for being so helpful!!
great glad it worked out. I try to explain it in the easiest terms possible. remember to bookmark the guides I linked you
Guess I should check my copy. I ripped it a couple days ago and assume everything was good since I did not get any errors. I usually check the movie at random spots on a stand alone player. Having said that I didn't check the begining of the movie. Guess I am NOW -later
There was a 14 second start delay while watching the first few minutes of War in Nero Recode. I only backed up the movie since it fits nicely to a DVD+R. I used Nero recode to trim about 13 seconds of the start of the movie. So far so good.
garmoon i bet its there but your dvd player is skipping over it. garmoon take your backup and open it with clonedvd 2 and compare it to my screen shot does it start right away or is it like my screenshot and start at about 4 seconds?
