You made a wise decision my friend.
If they give u a hard time sending it back, give it to someone you really dislike. Take the $$ loss. And when it fries their 360 you can say "damn didn't you read the instructions LOL"
payback is my middle name :)

There is a new version from Nyko without the switch which is what they say was causing the problem...im sure there swapping the older ones (with a switch) to the newer ones.

Ive modded mine as i wanted it running on a seperate power source...see pics here.

you can always just open the fan remove the pins from the plug and hook the fans into a ac/dc adapter. you can get a 3-12V 500ma ac/dc adapter for 6$ or 7$

isn't anyone going to follow my advice & get a small floor fan? Like a 5 or 6" fan? It would be almost as good, no worries of it burning up your system

ya, the intercooler isn't a good idea. these were only for those who had the launch 360's right? i don't need any add-on fans if i got a newer 360? i typically only play for 1-2 hours at a time. i only had my 360 freeze once since i had it.

    any suggestions? thanks.

No offense , it might work it might be cheap but it looks sh!tty.
However running any fan off the 360 external power might be a bad idea,a AC/DC adapter would be best just because the 360 is flawed.

the 360 is poorly designed the new ones use the same revision as the last their hardware might be a bit more stable than thos at launch, the new revision thats not out yet has a new design to deal with power and heat better.

basically if you got a 360 you a fan of some kind on it unless you have a constant room temp of 60 or below.

As i understand it even the newer 360's are just as likely to overheat and then get the 3 red lights...my nyko is now running off a seperate power source so it runs even when i turn my xbox off, i do this to make sure all the heat is taken away from the chips etc and to touch any part of my 360 its cold like its hasnt been on.

There have also been suggestions that even after gaming its best to go back to the dashboard and let the 360 cool while ideling in the dashboard, this helps to get rid of the heat that would otherwise be trapped in the 360 if u just shut it off.

the main problem with the nyko was something to do with the switch (now removed on newer models) but it still uses the 360 power supply which i wasnt too happy about...hence me modding it.

Not really the fans and heatsinks have been tweaked the new CPU makes less heat all in all its what they should have done to begin with...

what a shame! hope they give you a new one or fix yours. although i heard that they usually just send you a new one. i would keep your hard drive though, or you might not get it back (or get a new one).

good thing microsoft extended their 90 day warranty to a full year. although my warranty is gone anyway since i opened the case. thinking about getting one of them whisper fans with the cool led lighting. how much cooler does this make the case? anyone know? or is it same as the stock fans with just the lighting? thanks.

well since most of their problems revolve around MS that would take care of that, change and update their devices for the 360 then sale their devices with the 360 out of the box, either drop ps"X" devices altother or amke them the even of the world with MS backed warranty,oh there are plenty of things MS could do with Nyko to make them worth the while.
